La Cage aux Folles had a successful night at the 2010 Tony Awards last night, taking home three very impressive Tony Awards! Douglas Hodge won Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical for his lead role as Albin, an incredible win for this being his debut Broadway performance. Director Terry Johnson stole a big win for team La Cage as well, being awarded Best Direction of a Musical, and giving proof that this musical is all it’s cracked up to be and much, much more. Perhaps the biggest Tony take home of the night for La Cage aux Folles was Best Revival of a Musical. La Cage was up against some tough competition for this one, with Finian’s Rainbow, A Little Night Music, and Ragtime in the nomination mix, but La Cage’s big win was well deserved.
