George Hamilton to play Georges on tour!

Although La Cage just came to an end on Broadway on May 1, theater goers don’t have to wait long before they can see the brilliant musical live in a city near them! Beginning October 11 in Des Moines, Iowa, La Cage Aux Folles will embark on an extensive US tour that is scheduled to last through August 5, 2012. And even more great news to add to this exciting tour is that the star himself, George Hamilton, will be part of the new cast as he plays the co-leading role of Georges!

George Hamilton has been in the acting business since 1952 and has an incredible amount of success tied to his name. With tons of experience in film and television, and as the author of two books, Life’s Little Pleasures and Don’t Mind if I Do or Do I, George Hamilton is a great match for the role of Georges in La Cage Aux Folles. He is best known for the movies Where the Boys Are (1960), The Godfather Part III (1990) and many others. He also appeared as a contestant in 2006′s Dancing With the Stars and was the host for ABC’s The Family in 2003.

Douglas Hodge took home one for the team with Outstanding Actor in a Musical for his incredible lead role as Albin, Kelsey Grammars’ character’s partner. La Cage Aux Folles’ final Drama Desk Award of the night went to Matthew Wright for Outstanding Costume Design, proving that his expertise in making glitz and glamor come to life in a male nightclub is off the charts.
